An idea for a tutor that pays attention to how students see themselves as learners.
Problem
How students see themselves as learners shapes what they are willing to try. Most tutoring software tracks which answers a student gets right, not whether they believe they can learn the material. I want to build a tutor that pays attention to both, because every student deserves a fair chance to learn.
Approach
What it would do
Notice signs of how a student sees themself as a learner during a session and adjust the help it gives, alongside the usual work on the material.

- Read the research on learner identity in tutoring.
- Sketch a small prototype to test the idea.
